Since we speak out against the recent statement issued by the office of management and the DOE-2 Shows Only agency in reference to Boney M. That letter is presented below:
Bobby Farrell, the dancer of the group Boney M from its inception until 1989, who died on December 30, 2010, no part of the group Boney M since splitting the same in the year 1989.
The joint tour for over 20 years with the name of Boney M, with the legally registered name, deeply regrets the death of Bobby Farrell, but by no means his death affects the activity of the group, as Farrell part of the same.
Boney M continues to tour in 2011 and is at your disposal.
For our part say that with respect to the note on recent dates from DOE-2, claiming to be the owner of the trademark Boney M for 20 years, and Bobby Farrell was part of a Boney M from 1989 to date, we must clarify following points:
1) Boney M brand is owned by music producer Frank Farian since the creation of the musical group Boney M. 35 years ago.
2) After the band split in 1989, the trademark owner Boney M., ceded the rights to use its brand to Liz Mitchell, a former original member of the group Boney M.
3) Subsequently, by court order, was also granted the right to the use of the mark Boney M. three other original members of the group, Bobby Farrell, Marcia Barrett and Maizie Williams. So, Bobby Farrell has continued performing in various musical using the name Boney M featuring Bobby Farrell Show from the ruling of that court decision until the day of his death dated December 30, 2010, being the day before, 29 December, last performed using the name of Boney M.
Therefore, the training provided by DOE-2 as Boney M is not the creator or owner of the trademark has not obtained any permission from Frank Farian to exploit, nor correspond to any of the old original members who are les granted the right to act under the brand name Boney M. through judicial decision cited above. In turn, is completely false that Bobby Farrell did not act under the name Boney M. Over the past 20 years because they did until the day before his death.
is shameful that after only 4 days since the funeral of Bobby Farrell, the speculation about the authenticity of an artist who has been the icon, not just the group Boney M., but a musical genre such as music Disco. Absolute feel embarrassed for people who not only want to put into question the original and artistic training, but are also able and dare to supplant a brazenly Boney M.
These actions should be unacceptable and intolerable, as well as confuse the public are profiting from the name Boney M., a name that never belonged to them.
